Bogwheelers

Home Bogwheelers

Bogwheelers motocross club was started in 1956 by Terry Franklin who was a trials rider, it was originally a trials club. In 1960 they started running scrambles which is now known as Motocross. The club originally had the use of Caledonia farm, until they had to move out to the Airport track on Dunstan Farm in the late 60s.Then in 1973 Bogwheelers moved to the now Donnybrook Motorsport complex.

Bogwheelers were members of the ACU (Auto cycle Union) of Great Brittan as a colonial club and had to follow their rules and regulations which in turn had been passed down by the FIM.

In 1971 Bogwheelers then joined the RMSA( Rhodesia Motor sport Association) and became eligible to hold national championship races. The First Motocross National Champion was Billy Cummings in 1971. Bogwheelers has grown from strength to strength , starting off in 1999 when it sent its first moto cross team to Morocco to compete in the AMU, and since then has sent teams to compete in Kenya , Zambia , Namibia , South Africa and last year Uganda.

All showing great results, and we will continue to do the same going forward. In the past Bogwheelers had tracks at Ruzawi , Skyline Hotel on the out skirts of Harare ,Kariba ,Karoi ,and Marondera.

It currently has tracks at Marondera, Ruwa and Donnybrook. AS a club we would like to thank ZMSF (Zimbabwe Motor Sports Federation) for their support and guidance over all the past years and congratulate them on their 50th anniversary.

From All members and Committee we wish them all the best for the Future.
